How it's calculated (visible formula)
net_boards = area × sides ÷ (width × length); buy = ceil(net × (1+waste))
- Net geometric measurement, no waste.
- Adjustable waste % for cuts and breakage.
- Purchase rounded up to sellable units (boxes, bags, buckets, boards).
Worked example: 12 m² liner, 1 side
- 12 ÷ 3 = 4 boards net
- +10% → 4.4
→ 5 boards.
Common mistakes
- Counting one side of a partition.

FAQs
- 12.5 or 15 mm board?
- Quantity is the same; thickness follows the system (fire/acoustic) per design.
- How many sheets for 130 sq ft?
- A 4×8 ft sheet covers 32 sq ft: 5 sheets with 10% waste for one side.
- Do I count both sides of a partition?
- Yes: a partition lined both sides doubles the board area.
- Do I deduct doors and windows?
- Big openings yes; small ones are better left in — offcuts cover them.
- What about 4×8 ft sheets?
- A 1.2×2.5 m board is ≈4×8 ft (about 32 sq ft). Switch to Imperial to enter feet instead of metres.
