How it's calculated (visible formula)
tracks = ceil(2L ÷ 3); studs = floor(L ÷ spacing) + 1; screws ≈ 25 × m²
- Net geometric measurement, no waste.
- Adjustable waste % for cuts and breakage.
- Purchase rounded up to sellable units (boxes, bags, buckets, boards).
Worked example: 4 m × 2.5 m partition
- Area 10 m²
- Tracks: ceil(8/3) = 3
- Studs at 0.6 m: 7
→ 3 tracks, 7–8 studs, ~250 screws, ~5 kg compound.
Common mistakes
- Ordering exact studs with no height cuts.
- Forgetting joint tape.

FAQs
- Is the screw count exact?
- It's indicative (~25 pcs/m² single layer). Double layer or fire boards need more; confirm with your supplier.
- How many studs for a 13 ft wall?
- Every 16 in plus a starter: about 11 studs for 13 ft.
- How many tracks do I need?
- Twice the wall length (floor + ceiling) divided by track length, rounded up.
- Can I enter feet?
- Yes — switch to Imperial above the form. A 10 m² partition shows as ≈108 sq ft and lengths convert to feet.
