How it's calculated (visible formula)
net = perimeter − doors; pieces = ceil(net × (1+waste) ÷ piece)
- Net geometric measurement, no waste.
- Adjustable waste % for cuts and breakage.
- Purchase rounded up to sellable units (boxes, bags, buckets, boards).
Worked example: 40 m perimeter, 4 m doors
- Net 36 m
- +7% → 38.52 m
- 2.4 m piece → 17 pieces
→ 17 pieces (40.8 m).
Common mistakes
- Measuring rooms without subtracting doors.
- Forgetting corner mitres.

FAQs
- Deduct doors?
- Yes: subtract each door width with no baseboard.
- How much baseboard for a room?
- Perimeter minus doors, plus mitre waste. Example: 130 ft − 13 ft → 16 pieces of 8 ft.
- How much waste for mitres?
- 7% by default covers corner mitre cuts.
- Sold by the foot or by the piece?
- By fixed-length pieces (e.g. 8 ft): the math rounds up to whole pieces.
- Can I enter linear feet?
- Yes — switch to Imperial: a 36 m run shows as ≈118 linear ft.
