Calculate labour, margin & VAT

How it's calculated (visible formula)

hole = π/4 × (D² − d²) × depth; bags = volume × (1 + waste) ÷ yield per bag

See methodology and formula versions

How to calculate it, step by step

  1. Enter the number of posts.
  2. Set hole diameter and depth.
  3. Subtract the post volume.
  4. Multiply by holes and add waste.
  5. Convert to bags with the product's yield.

Worked example: 10 posts of 4 in in 12 × 32 in holes

  1. ≈ 0.050 m³ (1.8 cu ft) per hole
  2. × 10 × 1.1 = 0.55 m³

→ About 47 bags of 55 lb (or 33 of 80 lb).
