Calculate labor, margin & tax

How it's calculated (visible formula)

gallons = area ÷ coverage per coat × coats; pails = ceil(gallons ÷ pail size)

See methodology and formula versions

How to calculate it, step by step

  1. Measure the pavement area.
  2. Clean and fill cracks first.
  3. Enter sealer coverage per coat.
  4. Work out gallons for the coats.
  5. Round up to full pails.

Worked example: 2,150 sq ft at 120 sq ft/gal, 2 coats, 5 gal pails

  1. 2,150 ÷ 120 × 2 ≈ 36 gal (133 l)
  2. ÷ 5 gal

→ 8 pails of 5 gal (7 of 20 l).
