Calculate labour, margin & GST

How it's calculated (visible formula)

joint length = area × (1 ÷ board width + 1 ÷ board length); rolls = ceil(length × (1 + waste) ÷ roll length)

See methodology and formula versions

How to calculate it, step by step

  1. Measure board area to finish.
  2. Enter board length and width.
  3. Work out joint length per area.
  4. Add waste and round up to rolls.
  5. Add corner bead for outside corners.

Worked example: 430 sq ft of 4 × 8 ft boards, 33 ft of corners

  1. ≈ 49 m (162 ft) of joints
  2. +10% ≈ 178 ft

→ 1 roll of 500 ft tape and 4 lengths of corner bead.
