How it's calculated (visible formula)

kWh = power (kW) × hours per day × days; cost = kWh × rate

See methodology and formula versions

How to calculate it, step by step

  1. Find the appliance wattage.
  2. Estimate real run hours per day.
  3. Enter the number of days.
  4. kWh = kW × hours × days.
  5. Multiply by your rate per kWh.

Worked example: 2,000 W dehumidifier, 3 h a day for 30 days

  1. 2 kW × 3 h × 30 = 180 kWh
  2. 180 × $0.15 = $27

→ $27 for the month.
