Calculate labour, margin & GST

How it's calculated (visible formula)

tiles = ceil(area ÷ tile area × (1 + waste)); boxes = ceil(tiles ÷ tiles per box)

See methodology and formula versions

How to calculate it, step by step

  1. Measure room length and width.
  2. Choose tile size.
  3. Divide the area by tile area.
  4. Add 5% for cut border tiles and breakage.
  5. Round up to full boxes.

Worked example: 20 × 16 ft room with 2 × 2 tiles

  1. ≈ 30 m² ÷ 0.36 ≈ 84
  2. +5% = 88 tiles
  3. 88 ÷ 16 = 5.5

→ 6 boxes of 16 tiles.
