How it's calculated (visible formula)
paint: kg = area × 0.25 kg/m² × 2 coats; self-leveling: kg = area × thickness (mm) × 1.6 kg/m²·mm
- Net geometric measurement, no waste.
- Adjustable waste % for cuts and breakage.
- Purchase rounded up to sellable units (boxes, bags, buckets, boards).
How to calculate it, step by step
- Measure the slab area.
- Choose the system: epoxy paint or self-leveling.
- Work out resin by thickness or coats.
- Add primer and waste.
- Round up to kits.
Worked example: 430 sq ft garage, two-coat epoxy, 22 lb kits
- 40 m² × 0.25 × 2 = 20 kg
- +10% = 22 kg (48 lb)
→ 3 kits and 12 kg of primer.
Common mistakes
- Coating damp concrete.
- Not profiling the slab (grind or shot-blast).
- Mixing more than you can spread in the pot life.
Pro tips
- Grind or shot-blast the slab to open the pores.
- Test slab moisture — it must be low.
- Mix with a slow drill and respect pot life.
- Broadcast anti-slip aggregate in wet areas or ramps.
